History

Beginning in 1905, this medal was conferred upon men and women as a basic military decoration within the Ottoman Empire. It could also be conferred upon civilians in recognition of meritorious service to society.

The ribbon for this medal conferred during WWI are decorated with a clasp, which features crossed swords and is dated "1333" (1915).

There are rare versions of this medal dating to WWI that were fabricated in Germany and Austria. These versions may or may not have crossed swords. These versions are considered to be more valuable.

The reverse features Turkish script and it is roughly translated.
