History


The medal is awarded to war veterans who participated in liberating Ukraine from Nazi occupation. It can also be awarded to native and non-native citizens for “defending the state’s interests and security”.The medal can be conferred posthumously and can be revoked if the recipient commits a serious crime.

The obverse of both medals translates to "DEFENDER OF MOTHERLAND UKRAINE".
