An 1936 Italian Spanish Campaign Medal

An 1936 Italian Spanish Campaign Medal - Bronze, engraver marked "M." on the reverse, 33 mm, original ribbon, extremely fine.

History


The Medal was awarded to Italian volunteer and military personnel who had rendered a minimum of three months of service in the Spanish Civil War.

It was originally founded as an unofficial award in 1938 but later made an official award by the Italian government in 1942.

There are variations in the design of the obverse and reverse medallions and the inscriptions.
