The Portuguese Red Cross Charity Medal is awarded for to individuals or groups who have provided excellent service to the Portuguese Red Cross.

There are three versions of the Gold Medal. The first version and the second version feature the former motto of the International Committee of the Red Cross, which translates to "In War, Charity." The third version does not have an inscription. The second and third versions have olive wreath suspensions.
