Physical Description and Item Details


An ovular medal constructed of bronze, the obverse bears a mountain and a fleur de lis, the reverse bears the inscription A LOS DEFENSORES DE PUIGCERDA LA PATRIA RECONOCIDA AGOSTO SEPTIEMBRE DE 1874, with a crown at the top with a loop for suspension, on a red and yellow striped ribbon.

History


The Medal for Puigcerda was established by Royal Decree on September 8, 1874. The medal was conferred upon the forces that participated in the defense of Puigcerda.

On September 8, 1884 the addition of two copper claps were authorized. The clasps read:

"PUENTE DE GUARDIOLA "
"CASTELLAR DE NUCH"
