A Maltese cross with spherical finials at the ends of the points, with a laurel wreath in the quadrants between the arms, with a central medallion of three castles on a hill within a border inscribed with EL REY CARLOS V AL VALOR HEROICO, the reverse bears the inscription TOMA DE LERIN 27 Y 28 DE MAYO 1837, with a crown suspension on a red ribbon.
The medal was conferred for the capture of Lerin.
