History

The Cross for the Pronouncement of September 1, 1840 was established in 1841 by Maria Christina during her exile in France. It was conferred upon those who participated in the pronouncement of the 1837 Spanish constitution on September 1, 1840.

The Cross is found with three different enamel, i.e., yellow, red, and black enamel. It is not clear if the Cross was awarded by ranks.

This Cross features an obverse inscription that translates "Pronouncement of September 1, 1840," and a reverse inscription that translates "1837 Constitution."
