History

The Medal for Defenders of Cenicero was instituted in Spain by the Regency of Maria Christina on June 30, 1836. It was founded in recognition of those individuals who defended the city of Cenicero against Carlists troops of Zumalacárregui on October 21 and 22, 1834.
