History

The Cross for Menjibar was instituted in Spain by King Ferdinand VII on April 18, 1816 to reward the Andalusian army, commanded by General Reding, who defended the ferry of Menjibar against Napoleonic forces on July 16, 1808.

The Cross features a reverse inscription that translates to "July 16, 1808, Menjibar."
