History

The Cross of Merit of the First Army was instituted in 1811 in recognition of the brave soldiers of the First Army, who participated during the 1811-campaign against the French army during the Peninsular War.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "First Army 1811," and a plain reverse.
