History

The Medal for Hostalrich was authorized by the Supreme Junta of Catalonia in 1810. It was conferred upon military personnel who defended the castle of Hostalrich from a French invading army on May 12, 1810.

Two grades of this Medal were authorized. The I Class Medal was conferred upon Officers and Chiefs who were around eighty men. The II Class Medal was awarded to the troops that were around nine-hundred and thirty-four men.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Hostalrich 12th of May of 1810," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Constant Courage and Loyalty."
