The Royal Order for Recognition of the Victims of Terrorism (Real Orden de Reconocimento a las Victimas del Terrorismo) was instituted in Spain by decree of October 8, 1999. It was established in honor of the victims of terrorism in Spain.
It is conferred upon Spanish and foreign citizens who have suffered the consequences of the terrorism in Spain.
The Grand Cross is awarded posthumously to the family of those who has been killed as a result of terrorist actions.
