History

This Medal is conferred upon Swedish or foreign military personnel, who have rendered services in war time or other similar combat situations.

This Medal can be conferred with or without a sword shaped clasp on the ribbon. An individual may be eligible to receive the clasp on the gold medal if the individual has rendered outstanding leadership, and commendable service during unusual situations, or risking their own life. A sword shaped clasp may be added on a silver medal to individuals who had rendered meritorious effort and exceptional individual valour.

Without a sword shaped clasp the gold medal may be conferred to individuals who had rendered beneficial service to the Armed Forces, and to those who have distinguished themselves by risking their lives with great valour, and in doing so has died. Also, the Medal may be conferred in silver without a sword shaped clasp, under the conditions that the individual has distinguished themselves by rendering service beneficial to the Armed Forces and to those who have rendered exceptional individual valour.

The addition of the clasp may cause a price variation.

This Medal was established as an "inbetween" medal of the Swedish Armed Forces Reward Medal for International Service (See Medals & Decorations SWE139 for more information), and the Swedish Medal for Commendable Acts (See Medals & Decorations SWE116 for more information).

The reverse design of the medal may consist of the name of the recipient, the year the medal was conferred, and under some circumstances the country the recipient is from.

This Medal may be conferred posthumously.
