Austrian Imperial Far Eastern Cruise Medal “ S.M.S. Kaiser F. Joseph I”, instituted in 1912; in bronze gilt, 36mm, in extremely fine condition, rare.

History


This medal was instituted to commemorate the voyage of the ship "Franz-Joseph" which carried out a research voyage between 1910-1912.

The medal is likely an unofficial commemorative medal endowed by an institution such as the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the K.u.k Geographical Society of the k.u.k Naval Society.
