History

The Order was founded by Empress Consort Elisabeth Christine, and later revised by Empress Maria Theresia.

It was conferred in recognition of 30 or more years of service in the Imperial Austrian Army.

Furthermore, Order members had to have attained the title of Colonel, and been appointed to serve in the Court Council of War during their time in the Army.

The Order was discontinued with the creation of the Austrian Republic in 1918.
