The Commemorative Decoration for the 50th Anniversary of the Ostend-Dover Ferry was established by Royal Decree on February 27, 1896, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of ferry boat service between Ostend, Belgium and Dover, England. It was not awarded after 1898.
The II Class Cross was awarded to ferry workers for 25 years of service. The reverse inscription translates to "March 3, 1896."
