History

The Medal of the Recruitment Centres was awarded to Belgian citizens aged 16 to 35 in recognition of visiting a French recruitment centre during the outbreak of the Second World War, as ordered by the Belgian government. Recipients were required to have spent a minimum of 10 days away from home prior to September 10, 1940, to be eligible for the Medal.

There are three versions of the Medal - one for each of the linguistic groups in Belgium. Each version has an acronym which stands for "Recruitment Centre of the Belgian Army," as well as a Latin inscription which translates to "For the Honour of the Country."
