A Croatian Order of the Iron Trefoil; First Class Cross with Oakleaves - In non magnetic metal, lacquered arms, center enameled, 50.86mm x 51.53mm, unmarked, but only known maker was "Braca Knaus, Zagreb", with full length of original neck ribbon, appears unworn, near mint condition; there are only two known recipients of the Iron Trefoil First Class Cross with Oakleaves: Leader of the Independent State of Croatia, Dr. Ante Pavelic, and Generalfeldmarschall Friedrich Paulus.
This Order is the highest military decoration of the Independent State of Croatia. It was conferred upon military personnel in recognition of outstanding service and leadership resulting in success against the enemy.
This Order is also known as the Croatian Cross.
The I Class Cross was awarded 7 times. The I Class Cross (without oak leaves) was awarded 2 times.
