History


This Order is the highest Order of the Republic of Croatia. It is conferred upon high ranking foreign officials in recognition of contributions to the establishment of the Republic of Croatia, resulting in an amicable relationship with the recipient's country.

It was instituted on 20 June 1992 and reconstituted on April 1, 1995.

This Order is named after Tomislav who was the king of Croatia during the 10th century. He would defend his country from the Bulgarians and was the founder of the Croatian State.
