History


This Order is the highest award for bravery within the Republic of Croatia. It is conferred upon Croatian and foreign military personnel and employees of the Ministry of the Interior in recognition of valor in combat, and it can be awarded posthumously.

When this Order is awarded to armed units it includes the Order's pendant.

The Order has been awarded over 550 times.

The obverse inscription translates to "Prince Domagoj". The reverse inscription translates to "Republic of Croatia".

This Order is named after Domagoj who was the Duke of Croatia during the 9th century. During his reign he would wage many wars against his neighbors to protect his Duchy.
