This medal is conferred upon individuals who are members of the state fire inspection, members of the voluntary fire services in Southern Jutland, and local fire brigades who have rendered general fire services for 25 years. Foreigners are eligible to receive this award.

Individuals who are members of the Frederiksberg and Copenhagen fire brigades are only eligible for the Frederiksberg Fire Brigade Long Service Medal and Copenhagen Fire Brigade Long Service Medal, respectively.
