Medal Ingenio et Arti in Gold, Type V

Established by King Christian VIII, this medal is awarded to recognize Danish or international writers, musicians, artists, and scientists for remarkable, continual service to Danish culture. Both men and women were eligible to receive this award. When conferred upon women it was awarded on a bow.
During the reign of King Christian IX, the medal was not awarded.
The obverse of the medal consists of the portrait and name of the awarding monarch, and the rim of the medal is engraved with the recipient's name.
Christian X was King of Denmark from 1912 to 1947 and the only king of Iceland between 1918 and 1944.
