History

The Cross of the Volunteer Combatant of the Resistance was awarded to those who, for at least three months, participated in resistance activities for the one of the following organizations prior to June 6, 1944: the French Interior Forces, the French Combatant Forces, and the French Interior Resistance, or another proven organization of Resistance Combatants. The recipients of the Cross were required to have a Combatant Card for Volunteers of the Resistance. The Medal was also awarded posthumously to those who died as a result of an act of resistance.

It is uncertain when the Cross ceased to be awarded.

The reverse inscription translates to “Volunteer Combatant, Resistance.”

There is at least one other version that differs in size.

It may still be officially open to applications.
