    This version was engraved by Louis-Oscar Roty. It is hallmarked on the rim. The second version has an obverse inscription that translates to “French Republic, Ministry of Public Education,” and a reverse inscription that translates to “Primary Education, National Education.”

History


The Medal of Honour for Primary School Teachers was created on October 30, 1886. It is awarded to primary school teachers in recognition of long service.

The Medal has three grades. An Honorable Mention is received for 5 years of service, the Bronze Medal can be awarded for two years of additional service after receiving an Honorable Mention, and the Silver Medal can be awarded for two years of additional service after receiving the Bronze Medal.

There are two versions of the Medal which vary in engraving and inscription.
