Physical Description


A Latin cross constructed of gold or silver gilt. The obverse bears the inscription "FÜR TREUE IM BERUF" (for loyalty in vocation). The cross is topped with a crown. On a green ribbon.

History


The Long and Faithful Service Cross for Midwives was established by Duke Friederich II of Anhalt on January 1, 1906. The cross was conferred upon midwives who had performed 30 years of meritorious service in their field. After the death of the recipient, the decoration was to be returned to the state. The cross was strung on a green band and worn around the neck.
