Physical Description and Item Details


Anhalt, Duchy. A Medal for 50 Years of Faithful Service, c.1900

(Denkzeichen für 50 Jahre Diensttreue). Instituted 12 May 1864 by Duke Leopold IV. (1864-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a central monogram of Leopold IV, topped by a royal crown, within a laurel wreath, the reverse with an inscription of “FÜR FUNZIGJÄHRIGE DIENSTTREU” (“FOR FIFTY YEARS OF FAITHFUL SERVICE”), unmarked, measuring 32.29 mm in diameter, weighing 13.8 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in near extremely fine condition.

History


This Medal for 50 Years of Long and Faithful Service was founded by Duke Leopold Friedrich IV and it was conferred upon ducal officials and civil servants to recognize 50 years of exemplary service.
