Physical Description

A circular medal constructed of bronze gilt. The obverse bears the busts of Grand Duke Friedrich I and his wife, Princess Louise of Prussia. The reverse bears the coat of arms of Baden and Prussia, with the dates "1856 1906 20. 9." With a horizontally elongated suspension loop, on a red ribbon with red stripes.

History

The Friedrich Luise Medal was established by Grand Duke Friedrich I to commemorate his 50th wedding anniversary. The medal was awarded to men and women for merit in all areas of welfare work and was not returnable. Recipients who held the Jubilee Medal of 1902 wore the Friedrich Luise Medal in front the anniversary medal. The medal is similar in appearance to the 50th Wedding Anniversary Commemorative Medal, but the Friedrich Luise Medal does not bear a border with an inscription on the obverse.

It features the portraits of the Grand Duke and Duchess.
