Physical Description


An ovular medal constructed of zinc alloy. The obverse bears the busts of King Ludwig III and his wife, Queen Marie Theresa, encompassed by a wreath. The reverse bears the inscription “ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DIE GOLDENE HOCHZEIT 20 FEBR 1918” (in memory of the golden wedding anniversary, Februar 20, 1918), with the shields of Bavaria and Austria-Este. On a loop for suspension with a light blue, white and yellow ribbon.

History


The Golden Wedding Jubilee Medal was established on the golden wedding anniversary of King Ludwig III and his wife, Queen Marie Theresa. It was conferred upon all court officials and servants, as well as members of the Bavarian residence guards, and those who rendered outstanding services during the preparations for the anniversary festivities.
