Physical Description


A circular medal constructed of tombac gilt. The obverse bears the image of a Luitpold cross with a Bavarian coat of arms in the centre, encompassed by a wreath. The inscription "TREUE DIENSTE BEI DER FAHNE" (loyal services to the flag) lays in the quadrants between the arms. The reverse bears a shield with the inscription "XII" (12) encompassed by a wreath. The wreath is encompassed by the inscription "DIENSTAUSZEICHNUNG II. KLASSE XII" (service award 2nd class 12). On a loop for suspension with a light blue and white ribbon.

History


The Military Long Service Cross and Medal was issued under Prince Regent Luitpold on August 30, 1913. It was awarded in recognition of long and faithful military service.

The II Class Medal was awarded for 12 years of service.
