A rectangular bar constructed of silver gilt, on a red and white striped ribbon bar. The obverse bears the image of the castle of Hamburg on a smooth background with a smooth border. The reverse bears the Roman numeral "XX".
The Long Service Bar was established by the Senate of Hamburg on July 30, 1858. The bar was conferred upon Non-Commissioned Officers and Enlisted Men who rendered 20 years of active military service.
