The medal was awarded to combatants and non-combatants.

The ribbon for combatants is yellow with white and red stripes along the exterior edges.

The ribbon for non-combatants is white with yellow and red stripes along the exterior edges.

When the medal was awarded to women, it was worn on a bow ribbon.
