History

The Medal was founded by Prince Adolph Georg in recognition of the soldiers who participated in the Campaign of 1849, which was fought between the German province of Schleswig-Holstein and Denmark.

Lippe-Schaumburg sent only one company to participate in the campaign and as such, there was only a small number of eligible candidates to receive this cross.
