The Domestic Servant Long Service Cross was founded by Princess Marie, with the consent of Prince Georg, and was conferred upon female domestic servants who served the same family for 40 years or more. It could also be awarded to domestic servants who served at the court for an uninterrupted period of time, and while doing so demonstrated merit and grace.
