The Long Service Crosses were established by Prince Georg Wilhelm in 1850, and were conferred upon Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and soldiers who rendered long and faithful military service. When calculating the number of years served, war years counted for double.

The III Class Bronze Bar was conferred upon Non-Commissioned Officers and soldiers for 9 years of service.
