History

The Gold Medal was founded by Prince Adolf Georg of Schaumburg-Lippe and Prince Paul Friedrich Emil Leopold of Lippe, and was conferred upon individuals who rendered meritorious services to Princely House.

The Type I medals do not feature a surmounting crown.

The Medal was awarded until 1877.

Some sources falsely claim that the Medal was composed of Silver gilt and was awarded until 1893.
