History

The Order of Arts and Sciences was established by Prince Georg of Schaumburg-Lippe and was conferred in recognition of outstanding achievements in the areas of arts and science.

The award was seldom awarded, and the majority of recipients were awarded for achievements in the arts.

The crosses were originally produced by Carl Büsch, but as of 1914, C.F. Zimmermann became the primary producer.
