History

The Long Service Cross for Female Servants was instituted by Grand Duchess Elisabeth and was conferred upon female servants and labourers who rendered 40 years of unblemished service in a public or private field of employment.

On May 2, 1918, the award statutes were changed and it was determined that individuals who were not citizens of Mecklenburg-Strelitz could also receive the cross.
