History

The Civil Merit Medals were originally issued under Duke Wilhelm. These medals were not wearable.

The Type II Medals were issued under Duke Adolph beginning in February of 1841. The medals were originally not wearable, but on February 13, 1843, the Duke consented to the medals being made wearable.

61 Silver Medals were awarded.

A variant of the Silver Medal features a left-facing portrait of Duke Adolph and the stamp "KORN". This version was conferred upon 12 recipients and was only awarded from 1865 until 1866.
