History

The Cross was founded by Duke Wilhelm and was conferred upon Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and enlisted men who had rendered long and faithful service in the Nassau Military. In order to receive the Award, an individual had to have a history of impeccable conduct.

Before the Award was instituted, long service was marked by chevrons.

The Gold Cross for 25 Years was conferred upon Officers.

A version of the cross is composed of Bronze gilt.
