Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 25 mm in diameter, in very fine condition.

History


The Neufchatel Commemorative Medal, 1832 was instituted by King Friedrich Wilhelm III to commemorate the suppression of the 1831 rebellion in the principality of Neufchatel.

The medal was conferred upon all the residents of Neufchatel who fought against the rebels or helped maintain order in their communities during the revolt.

The medal was designed by Professor François Henri Brandt.
