Civil Honour Cross, Senior Line, III Class Silver Cross (1886-1918)
Estimated market value:
The Cross was instituted by Prince Heinrich XX (Senior Line) and was conferred in recognition of exceptional long-term service within a field of labour or in a civil service position.
In 1890, the III Class was divided into two divisions (Abteilungen). The III Class Silver Cross (1890-1902) is referred to as "Abteilung A."
In 1902, the name of the Cross was changed to the "Merit Cross." In the same years it was determined that the Cross could only be conferred upon citizens of Reuss (Senior Line).
The Senior Line crosses were worn on a dark blue ribbon, two large red stripes along each exterior edge.
