History


The Decoration was founded by Prince Heinrich XIV of Reuss-Gera (Junior Line) and was conferred in recognition of outstanding achievements in the fields of art and science. The Award could be conferred upon citizens of Reuss, as well as foreigners.

In 1909, the Silver and Gold Medals were added to the Decoration.

In 1912, the Cross was extended to include Reuss-Greiz (Senior Line).
