History


The Cross was founded by Prince Heinrich XIV of Reuss-Gera (Junior Line) and was conferred in recognition of outstanding achievements in the fields of art and science. The Award could be conferred upon citizens of Reuss, as well as foreigners.

In 1912, the Cross was extended to include Reuss-Greiz (Senior Line).
