A smooth circular medal with a raised edge, constructed of gold. The obverse features the left-facing portrait of Duke Günther Friedrich Carl II, with the circular inscription ‘GÜNTHER FRIEDRICH CARL II. FÜRST ZU SCHWARZBURG SONDERSHAUSEN’, with a small five-sided star at the bottom. Below the neck is the manufacturer’s signature ‘G. LOOS’. The reverse features Germania, sitting, with a cornucopia and a laurel wreath, with the circular inscription ‘DEM GEWERBLICHEN VERDIENSTE’ (‘for merit in trade’). Under a decorative line at the bottom is the manufacturer’s signature ‘G. LOOS’. On a loop for suspension, on a dark blue ribbon.
The Sevice Medal for Commercial and Industrial Merit was introduced in 1863 by Prince Günther Friedrich Carl II of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen. The medal was conferred in recognition of exceptional service and accomplishment in the fields of commerce and industry.
