The Soldiers’ Association Decoration was instituted on January 20, 1912, by Prince Friedrich of Waldeck and Pyrmont. It was established to recognise the work of the Veterans’ Association, which bolstered patriotism and benefited the public welfare of the entire German Empire. The Decoration was conferred upon individuals who rendered exceptional service within the Soldiers’ Association.
Only citizens of Waldeck were eligible to receive the medal. 100 medals were manufactured but only 54 were awarded. The location of the unawarded medals is unknown.
