History

The Honour Decoration for Female Domestic Servants was founded by Queen Olga and approved by King Karl on November 7, 1883. The decoration was conferred upon female servants who rendered long and faithful service with the same family for many years. The applicable years of service were calculated from the age of 14 and beyond. In order to be eligible to receive the decoration, the service rendered had to be uninterrupted. Periods of unexcused interrupted service were taken into account when calculating the total service time.

The Silver Cross was awarded for 25 years of uninterrupted service.
