History

During the Second World War, some members of the Hitler Youth served as war auxiliaries alongside anti-aircraft units of the Luftwaffe. They were colloquially known as Flak Helpers.

These Flak Helpers wore helmets similar in design to those worn by actual Luftwaffe members, which encompasses a wide variety of steel helmets that differ in model and insignia.

The Flak Helper helmets generally feature a painted HJ diamond on the left side, and always below the Luftwaffe symbol when it was present.
