History

The HJ Pre-1933 Visored Cap was worn by all members of the Hitler Youth until 1933, when it was replaced by a new, standardized cap.

Due to the lack of formal regulations, the caps worn until 1933 vary in material and appearance. The caps generally feature a visor and are referred to as “Feldmütze” (Field Cap) in the regulations. These types of caps were observed in use by 1929 at the latest.

The soft body and visor were generally made from light brown uniform cloth, and a brown leather chin strap with a wire loop in the center was held to the cap by metal buttons. At the centre of the front peak, the cap features an round and enameled early Hitler Youth membership pin with the inscription "Deutsche Arbeiter-Jugend" (German Worker Youth).
