History

Members of the SS-Sicherheitsdienst (SD, security service) wore a blank black collar tab on the right side of the collar to identify the organisation they served with. The rank collar tabs on the left side of the collar were the same that were used by the Allgemeine SS. For more information, please visit the Allgemeine SS rank collar tabs section.

Officer rank collar tabs are piped with twisted aluminium cord, whereas Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) and Enlisted Men (EM) collar tabs are piped with black and aluminium twisted cord.
