Constructed of a grey wool backer, bearing machine-embroidered aluminum wire Sig runes, the reverse with an intact black paper liner, unmarked, measuring 34 mm (w) x 44 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
Only full members of the SS were allowed to wear the SS runes. However, when these men served in SS or non-SS units that did not wear the SS runes, they wore them on the lower left breast. This was the case for SS men serving in Waffen-SS units with special unit collar tabs, or SS members serving in the German Police.
The SS rune breast insignia is made of embroidered aluminum wire on a cloth background. The cloth, depending on the wearer's uniform, could be in Police green, field-grey, or black.
